This is a self portrait that I completed when I was in ninth grade. I made this for the final project of my drawing one class in my freshman year. We had been learning how to draw what we saw and really make things look realistic with a range of shading from the darkest black to the lightest white and everything in-between. For this piece, I decided to use charcoal because of how easily it spread, making it easier to complete my range of shadings. After I had finished and the class was done, my piece was chosen to be displayed in the art gallery of my school for the summer season.
